Cold-Hardy Trees, Thriving in Alaska

We grow and sell resilient, non-invasive tree species tailored for Southcentral Alaska. Our specialty is Siberian Fir (Abies sibirica) - a cold-adapted conifer that thrives in conditions like those on the Kenai Peninsula. At Trees For Alaska, all trees are grown onsite using organic methods and are available by scheduled appointment.

A Responsible Alternative to Declining White Spruce

Alaska’s iconic white spruce has been hit hard by spruce bark beetles, with billions of trees lost statewide, reshaping landscapes and wildlife habitats.

Siberian fir (Abies sibirica) is a resilient solution:

  • Thrives in cold climates and cool, wet summers

  • Naturally resistant to major local pests

  • Non-invasive, steady growth

  • Provides valuable habitat and nutritious seeds for wildlife

For property owners looking for long-term, ecologically responsible options, Siberian fir is a strong, adaptable substitute while native spruce populations recover.

Grown Onsite in Soldotna

Our trees are never shipped from large commercial growers—every specimen starts right here on our property along the Kenai River in Soldotna.

Siberian fir seed is harvested directly from mature trees, then carefully nurtured through a meticulous growing process:

  • Properly stratified for best germination

  • Raised in organic beds

  • Thinned and transplanted over multiple years

  • Hardened for Alaska’s challenging conditions

Our slow, deliberate approach prioritizes strong roots, structural integrity, and long-term success when transplanted.

Built on Forestry Experience

Our owner, William Ross, a Forestry Science graduate, brings decades of hands-on experience with Alaska landscapes. Every tree is grown, evaluated, and cared for under his direct supervision. This is a small, purpose-driven nursery, focused on quality and ecological fit, not high-volume production.
